Trekking in the mostly little known Himalayan routes of the Tibet is certainly tempting, but may also prove dangerous unless accompanied by people who know the reason very well. The treks to Tibet are called Camping Treks, and require permits for all involved, including the guides, Sherpas, & other crews members. Moreover, all visitors including the Chinese from other parts of China are required to possess The Alien’s Travel Permit while visiting the officially closed areas of Tibet.

If you wish to trek on some politically sensitive parts considered by China like the Mt. Kailash area, you also need to acquire the Military permit, & the foreign affairs permit besides the regular visa & travel permits.
