First of all, avoid talking on political matters with the Tibetans which might put them under official suspicion.

Take your hats off while visiting a monastery, or other religious compounds.

While traveling past a religious site or monument, always walk through keeping the site to your right.

Although, Tibetans do not have caste system like those of the Hindus, avoid physical contact with holy people, monks, & nuns. Avoid interfering in the Tibetan burial rituals which they call sky or celestial burial.

Refrain from taking pictures without permission when the Tibetans are observing their rituals.
