Boating in Nepal is not yet a sport activity except in some famous places like the Fewa Lake of Pokhara, & in the Kathmandu Zoos. Howerver, the ethnic people in Terai have been using boating for transport & fishing. Fishing is also practiced by the riverside villagers along the hundreds of rivers flowing north to south. There are some boating & canoeing available in Chitwan.

Boat trip can be organized in the Pokhara lakes, Phewa, Beganas, & Rupa or in the livers like Trishuli, Koshi, & Bhote-Koshi, & Narayani rivers. Boat riding may be combined with bird watching in the Chitwan, Bardiya, Parsa & Kosi Tappu national parks & reserves. You may also consider Boat rides in the large river systems of Kosi, Karnali, & Gandaki during a favorable season.
