Buthan is also a landlocked country like Nepal. Moreover, the country kept itself isolated until recently. Hence, there are limited air & travel routes for getting to Bhutan.
By Air:
Bhutan’s national carrier the Druk Air holds regular flights to & from the neighboring cities Kolkota, Delhi, Kathmandu, Bangkok & Dhaka. No other airline company has been allowed operating in Bhutan. Flight delays are not uncommon owing to weather & other reasons.
Overland:
Bhutan has only one overland entry point – from India’s West Bengal state. Phuentsholing, the southern Bhutan border town, is about four hours drive from India’s Bagdora Airport. For your exit from Bhutan, you may either use the Phuentsholing or opt for Samdrup Jongkhar which leads to the Assam State of India. |
